What Is Screen Printing?
Screen printing is the definition of tried and tested in the world of clothing decoration, being one of the most longstanding methods used to customise clothing and merchandise.
In short, it is a print technique that uses stencilled mesh screens and coloured ink to transfer a design onto a flat surface. The ink is pressed through the mesh screen using a squeegee. We create a stencil of your design which only allows ink to pass through designated areas, whilst being blocked from unwanted areas, so your graphic can be repeated with precision on a t-shirt, hoodie, polo shirt or much more.
Once the design has been transferred via the mesh screen, your garment will undergo a curing process to ensure strong bonds between the ink and fabric. What is the typical turnaround time for screen-printed orders?
Our standard turnaround time for screen-printed clothing is 3 to 7 working days, depending on the shipping option you choose. We do offer next-day delivery across some printed t-shirts, however, these will not be screen printed due to the time taken to set up the method. We offer free UK delivery on all orders over £50, and you can also enjoy no minimum order cost.
Can screen printing handle detailed designs?
It certainly can! Screen printing is a great option for reproducing highly intricate designs or even photographs. It is a suitable method for very complex graphics, and our expertise ensures that your design will be produced with the highest precision.
How can I ensure my screen printed clothing lasts?
- We have a few tips to help you maintain the quality of your screen printed garments. We have included a few tips for washing your custom screen printed clothing below:
- Wash garments inside out at a cold temperature – 30 degrees or lower
- Avoid bleach and harsh detergents that can damage the print when being washed
- We recommend air drying the garments, but if you must tumble dry ensure that a low temperature is used
Are there any disadvantages to screen printing?
There are so many benefits to screen printed clothing, however, there may be some situations where a different decoration may be better for you. If your design features many different colours, another print method could be best as each colour requires a separate screen which is a time-consuming process.
Additionally, if you require a very fast turnaround for your order, we would suggest opting for DTG or DTF printing, as the setup time for screen printing is slightly longer compared to other methods.
