Direct-to-film, better known as DTF, has changed the printing game in how garments are printed. DTF printing offers several benefits versus traditional digital transfer and screen printing methods. Let’s explore a few of the key benefits as to why you should choose DTF printing:

  • DTF printing is one of the most versatile decoration methods, meaning you can print on all manner of fabrics and materials:
    • Cotton – perfect for workwear and everyday use

    • Nylon – great for fashion and sportswear
    • Organic blends – for those with sustainability at the fore
  • With the ability to reproduce high-resolution photography and very intricate graphics, this method ensures your designs look sharp and professional.
  • Direct-to-film is famed for its durability, meaning your prints will stand the test of time without cracking, peeling or fading – even after multiple washes.

Delivering Quality DTF Printing For Household Names...

Our Expertise in DTF printing

For a bright and vibrant finish, we print designs completely in white first and then cover them with the rest of the colours within the artwork. This means that DTF can produce even the most intricate of designs.

At MPC, the inks we use for DTF printing are usually water-based pigment inks – great for the environment – which are specifically created to be long-lasting when printed on clothing and other merchandise. As the design is printed onto film first, DTF printing can be used on a variety of different materials, including cotton, polyester, nylon and organic blends, making it a very versatile print process which can be especially effective on sportswear.

With over two decades of experience, we will always deliver you the highest quality DTF printed goods and clothing. Our unrivalled knowledge of this decoration method means you will always end up with a product you love.

Here is a brief step-by-step guide as to how DTF printing works at My Personalised Clothing:

  1. DTF printing uses specialist printers to apply designs to heat-resistant film.
  2. The ink on the film then undergoes a curing process to ensure it can bond to the fabric.
  3. This film is then printed onto the surface of the garment, with our experts always ensuring a high-quality finish.

Direct-To-Film Printing FAQs

Need to find out a bit more about how DTF printing works at My Personalised Clothing? We have included some of the most common questions we hear regarding this printing method below. Still not sure? Please speak to somebody from our team.

Are there any disadvantages to DTF printing?

There are undoubtedly countless benefits of this method, however, there are a few potential drawbacks you should consider. This process may not be cost-effective for very large orders, but please speak to our experts and we can help you choose the best option. Aside from this, some people may find that the print area has a different texture compared to the rest of the fabric, which isn’t the case for some other methods such as DTG printing.

Across some products, we offer 24-hour delivery, including our next-day delivery t-shirts. Orders before 3.30 pm on select products qualify for next-day delivery, including our range of next-day DTF printed t-shirts with same-day dispatch. For our other clothing and merchandise products, we offer various delivery options for direct-to-film printing orders to suit your budget and convenience. These options range from between approximately 3 to 7 working days. All orders over £50 can enjoy free UK delivery. If that’s not enough, we offer no minimum order across our entire range.

  • To maintain the print quality, we recommend the following:
    • Wash the garments inside out at a colder temperature – 30 degrees or lower.
    • Avoid using bleach and harsh detergents which can damage the print.
    • While low-temperature tumble drying is possible, we advise air drying all printed products to keep them in the best condition.

There are certainly some eco-friendly elements to DTF printing, especially when you choose My Personalised Clothing. We use water-based pigment inks that are less harmful to the environment than solvent-based inks. However, it does require more energy than some methods, such as DTG printing. This is because there is a curing and heating process which uses energy, but as technology advances, the efficiency of specialised DTF printers will continue to improve.
