Direct to garment printing, also known as DTG printing, is a process that uses a specialised inkjet printer to apply ink straight onto a garment. Due to the unique ink application process, DTG printing is perfect for full-colour photos or highly intricate designs, delivered with precision and accuracy directly onto the fabric surface. With our state-of-the-art printing technology, you will often not be able to physically feel the printed design on the garment, as the graphic will feel as if it is ingrained within the fabric itself.
DTG ink requires cotton fibres to be able to attach itself to the garment, therefore, products composed of 100% cotton will typically produce the best possible print result. The cotton fibres of the garment will absorb the ink, creating a very durable flush print surface. DTG printing is an effective solution for short runs or full-colour printing, as there are no set-up costs involved. When Should You Choose A Different Printing Method?
Whilst direct to garment printing undoubtedly offers a premium in print quality and durability, there may be some scenarios where it is best to explore another option.Â
We have included a few situations where it might be better to opt for a different print method:
- If you need a printed polyester garment, we would recommend using DTF printing or heat transfer
- For bulk orders or promotional merchandise, it is best to use a different decoration method as it is not as economical compared to screen printing
- We require garments to be at least 50% cotton for DTG printing

Does DTG printing work for both dark and light-coloured garments?
It does indeed! Due to the versatility of this brilliant printing method and our cutting-edge DTG printing technology, we can achieve beautiful prints no matter the colour of the garment.
Are there any ink colours which this print method isn’t suitable for?
For all standard RGB colours, this decoration method is perfect. However for specialist neon or metallic printing, please speak to our team.
How long will it take for me to receive my DTG printed clothing?
Not long at all if you choose one of our next-day delivery t-shirts! If you order before 3.30 pm, we offer specialised next-day t-shirt printing across some products with same-day dispatch. If you aren’t in such a hurry or are after a different style which isn’t in our next-day category, we offer a range of delivery options for direct to garment printing orders to suit your budget and convenience. These options range from between approximately 3 to 7 working days, depending on your budget and preference. If you spend over £50, you can enjoy free UK Delivery. You can also enjoy no minimum order requirement for all DTG printed items.
How should I care for my DTG printed clothing to ensure longevity?
To maintain the print quality, wash the garments inside out at a colder temperature – we would recommend 30 degrees. Avoid using bleach and harsh detergents. Although you can tumble dry on low, we recommend hanging your garments to dry.
Is direct to garment printing environmentally friendly?
Yes, DTG printing is considered more environmentally friendly than some traditional methods because it uses water-based inks, which contain fewer chemicals. It also produces less waste as it does not require much set-up effort.
