What is DTF printing?
DTF stands for direct-to-film. It is a printing technique that involves printing designs directly onto a specialised piece of film, which is then transferred onto the garment. What is the DTF printing process?
Before the DTF printing process begins, as is the same as all other printing processes, you need to create or select a design and also a garment you would like to personalise. Firstly, the design is printed onto a heat-sensitive film using dedicated DTF printers, which are equipped with specialised inks. These inks are normally water-based pigment inks which are specifically created to be durable and long-lasting when printed on clothing and other merchandise. Once the design is printed, it undergoes a curing process to ensure the inks bond with the film properly. The printed film is then placed on the clothing garment that is being customised. Heat and pressure are then applied using a heat press machine, resulting in a high-quality printed garment.
